Another unsung hero amongst us. I sent him a thank you. And I'm not from South Carolina or know anyone at this school. But my heart is...as well as countless other places of this world.

This individual exemplifies the goodness inherent in human beings and inspires hope for mankind. I hope this act serves as an inspiration for others to follow

A follow up on the school mentioned during President Obama's 1st address to congress in February. If ya'll recall, he read a letter from a middle school student asking for help for her 111-year-old school in Dillion SC. ( J.V. Martin Junior High School)

Darryl Rosser, CEO of classroom furniture supplier Sagus International, called Principal Amanda Burnette the day after Obama read Bethea's plea. After visiting the campus four weeks ago, Rosser said he knew he had to do what he could.

Over the weekend, Sagus sent nearly 2,000 pieces of furniture on four tractor-trailer loads. Volunteers worked throughout the weekend to put the surprise together, including a final coat of paint about 8 p.m. Sunday.

The furniture, plus setup and shipping by Sagus partners, was worth an estimated $250,000, Rosser said. Students walked into school this morning stunned to find new desks, chairs, furniture, and a fresh coat of paint. Where there had been 70-year-old graffiti-covered desks only three days earlier, there were now clean, brand-new desks. The cafeteria had also had a makeover with famous quotes written on the walls.

The favorite quote with the students is this:
"Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek."
    - President Barack Obama

Hi dear Wayne & thanks for asking!
About 800 unread emails behind, 2 simultaneous looong advocacy cases, still not able to drive (due to the now 9 month old back injury) or sit for long periods and about a gazillion art/civic type projects going...BUT still seeing & being grateful for so many many blessings & unexpected joys in this world.

I've been missing you guys & after I emailed the above to some; Bridgit suggested I post it here. I suppose I should be embarrassed that I just found your email re this lovely site....
So a long overdue tip of the hat. Well done, you! Makes my heart smile.

Thank you for being a part of the solution.

    Peace.
Kris (who is learning more about embracing patience & acceptance as she mends...)

My bit was easy, hehe. Loads of excellant members, with a wealth of diverse experiences & opinions is what makes this forum stand out so soon after it's launch, Smile . Some members have invested an extraordinary amount of time in developing it, and i'm certain all are readily willing to help whatever way they can, the forum's really blessed that way.

    Take care
    Wayne
