mirror reiki

I heard from somewhere that if you work infront of a mirror, and use your reflection as if it is another person you can use this is a way to practice attuning them to reiki. Also you can give reiki to yourself in this way too.
Im interested to know what everyone thinks about this?

Interesting. I wonder if that's based on Mirror-Magic concepts present in Wicca.

New methods of providing Reiki to others and one's self emerge all of the time, in fact, that's one of the things unique to Reiki compared to some other healing modalities. Practitioners always invent new ways to practice and provide healing energy to others.

In Distance Reiki training, the student is sometimes taught to use a surrogate to provide Reiki to their self or another. Sometimes that surrogate is a pillow, a stuffed teddy-bear, or even a picture of the person. The mirror functions in the same capacity of a surrogate, even if the person being treated is someone different than who is looking into the mirror.

I believe that the mirror technique will work quite well for some, because each person is unique, and different methods of presentation will resonate differently with each person. If you try it and it doesn't seem to work too well, then that's perfectly okay... file that away as a good experience (because now you can talk about it to others having direct experience). Your experience with it, good or bad, may help another find a better understanding of their experience with the technique, and there will be some people for whom the technique works perfectly.

Im not sure if its got anything to do with wicca, although being a wiccan myself, it does make sense.
Actually it is my masters manual he sent after he attuned me to seichim and usui styles.
I havent used it as yet, although am tempted to try.

Ah, thanks for the feedback, that's good to know. I have no recent experience with Wicca, at all. Mirror Magic was a part of Wicca during the late 1970's and early 1980's, but I have not been involved in it since that time, and so many things change.

yeh they defintely have! even in my own journey, i hear all the young kids coming up with completely different rituals and ways to repsect deity. Its amazing. Totally living and pliable. A moving and energetic spirituality. Changes with each generation. Although I am set in my ways, and love how I do it, just as others love how they do it.
