Reiki Wands - Just wondering!

Hello everybody,

What exactly is the story with Reiki wands? I've seen them advertised online but I don't understand what their function is or how they would be used.

I'm not in the market for one, I've just been wondering about this and this seems like the right group of people to ask!

Reiki Wands are just one of the many add-ins to the system of Reiki. They are not part of the original teachings and have probably been introduced by people who also practice wicca or crystal therapy or just general 'new age' stuff.

I would imagine that the idea behind them is to charge them with Reiki (crystals are excellent vehicles for storing and transmitting energy, even though they are also not part of the original Reiki teachings) and then use the wand to direct a beam of Reiki from the tip of the wand. So I guess they may be like a kind of 'energetic' battery operated torchlight!

Yep, Colin described it well. I estimate they became more popular around 3-4 years ago.

I thought it was longer than that.
When I was learning Reiki I was
introduced to a crystal grid. When
I became a teacher I eliminated it
from my classes and told my Reiki
teacher. I felt that Reiki is one
with the Universe and did not need
any extra help. However I do tell
my students that they will hear
of other energy systems integrated
with the Reiki System. I personally
use only the hands on system

Well, they've been around since I became involved (1993), but they started to become more popular a few years ago when Big Publishing and other commercial businesses became interested in marketing Reiki.

Interesting that folks wanted Reiki
to be integrated into the world of
medicine; as it becomes a household
name sorta speak it seems marketing
will change its authenticy.
