psychic ability and reiki proficiency

To all,
Would you please tell me how I would go about developing psychic abilities to help me be a better Reiki practitioner?
Let me also say I'm NOT interested in developing psychic abilities to a) win money at the casino or b) impress others. But when I went for my Reiki 1 this week, one of my Reiki teachers said she was getting messages to indicate my chronic daily migraines were the result of an early childhood accident I had--not a past life regression. She also felt intense headache pain herself for a split second while she gave me a Reiki treatment (oddly enough, my pain wasn't intense at the time.)
She also said she saw the color green when I gave someone a reiki treatment--indicating healing was taking place (which made me feel darn good about my reiki abilities!)
That being said, what does help a reiki practitioner develop psychic/intuitive powers?

While psychic abilities may indeed be useful, they are perhaps not all that relevant to you becoming "a better Reiki practitioner".

IMO, you don't need to be the slightest bit psychic in order to be a really effective Reiki Practitioner.

As to your intuition, this will naturally develop over time, the more you work with Reiki: giving treatments, and learning to "listen" more and more deeply with your hands.

Yet even this is perhaps not so important.

I concur with all that James has said.

also i don't always think it's wise to pass on psychic impressions to a client..I'm a big believer in if they are meant to discover something, they will come to that conclusion in their own time. Sometimes we may feel very strongly that we are to pass on some information, in those circumstances I would say trust your intuition. But generally I feel some psychic impressions can be counterproductive when passed on.

Years ago when I received healing ( prior to any kind of healer development on my part) I had a very very powerful vision...it frightened the life out of me...so much so that I didn't want to go back for another session. a few weeks later I explained that i saw something and it frightened me....I asked if he had picked up the imagery too....he kind of explained that any images he picks up are for him to understand and interpret and any images I pick up are for my own understanding. He was so right! that image was so symbolic and gradually made a great deal of sense to me....if he had tried to tell me what he thought was going on, it would have hindered my own growth and understanding.

I've been asked if I 'picked anything up' during a healing session, ( when I have been offering healing to another)...sometimes I do, sometimes I don't...I will tell someone if I felt I had to stay in a particular place for longer.....but I tread with great caution if I pick up any kind of pyschic impression...I apply great discretion and if necessary a little white lie.....

You have to be very careful as a healing practitioner, it can be all too easy for some recipients ( especially if they have had quite powerful experiences at your hands)to put you on some kind of all seeing, all knowing pedestal. They lose sight of the fact that you are simply a vessel through which appropriate information/energy can pass through, kick starting their own deeper potentials.

But there is nothing wrong with psychic development in order to help your own grwoth and understanding....but I've worked with some Extremely pyschic healers....some have remained humble and descrete with great integrity. Others let their ability inflate their ego to the point where they lost the plot a bit...

Also receiving healing from someone you know is very psychic can freak you out!! we all live our life beyond the healing room, I used to get a little paranoid if i thought a healer could pick up what I had been doing that morning...!!!

If you want to increase your intuition or psychic ability, my first suggestion would be to use Reiji-Ho.
