    Laughing Meditation

Many people might be surprised to think of laughter as a form of meditation. Yet not only is laughing meditation one of the simplest forms of meditation, but also it is a very powerful one. The physical act of laughing is one of the few actions involving the body, emotions, and the soul. When we laugh, we give ourselves over to the immediacy of the present moment. We also are able to momentarily transcend minor physical and mental stresses. Practiced in the morning, laughing meditation can lend a joyful quality to the entire day. Practiced in the evening, laughing meditation is a potent relaxant that has been known to inspire pleasant dreams. Laughter also can help open our eyes to previously unnoticed absurdities that can make life seem less serious.

vj, for those of us who do not exercise humor
into our daily lives, starting the day off with
a smile is a start. A picture near ones bedside
that brings a smile first thing when you wake up
helps set ones day. For me its my grandchildren.
That was one of my healing tools during my healing
journey. Children can do this laughing exercise
with more ease than adults. Some where along the way
most adults lose their natural ability to laugh.

Bridget Smile thanks for the share

meditation starts in the visualization act and then transcends into something not involving visualization at all...

for experienced buddies who have got a flavour of meditation, meditation is pitched at feelings, and in later stages at concepts...

i havent' tried meditation of laughter or smile per se... but some years back i have had the opportunity to try meditating happiness... this sort of meditation requires bit training since whenever we try to meditate feelings our material mind immediately bounces to and fro towards the 'acts' producing such feelings... for example, it is very difficult to meditate 'happiness' without letting the acts of laughter or smiling coming into our visual or thought....

but yes! meditating smile and in later stages, meditating happiness, is a wonderous experience... Smile

the excessive use of smileys in my chat and postings sometimes, can safely be ascribed to effects of those days that have now been completely abosrbed into my soul too Smile

i second, therefore, by way of personal note too!

    take care

Laughing meditations can be difficult at first
Trying to laugh when nothing funny is happening
You start of in small increment of laughing for
1 minute and then extend it for longer periods.
It helps if your in a large group

laughing meditation is easy.... just fart when everyone else is trying to be 'all calm and that' !!ahahahahah I'm blessed in that I come from a family who find humour in absolutely EVERYTHING!!! I'm also married to a very funny man... too many people take life too seriously, life is for enjoying and laughter really is the best medicine...
