Thanks healthyguy. Using the internet for
health articles can be time consuming. It
can also be self educating to come upon a
site that gives you insight to what you
already know but society has trained us
to get the DR's OK before self medicating
it's not wrong to check in with a DR. I'm
thinking about when we go to the DR's with a
cold and he tells us.. the only thing we can
do,is go home drink lots of water and get
plenty of rest. He's really telling us to
    go home and self heal.

There are times when checking out health websites
once we have identified with a search that matches
our ailment, common sense should be used to confirm
with a healing Dr. what the right approach is to
healing the cause of an ailment. study

I have a friend who occassionaly sends me health
articles from Mark Hyman M.D. here's one I received
    this week.

I find these emails interesting...maybe you will too. :-
    From: "Mark Hyman, M.D." <drhyman@ultrawellness.com>
Subject: Here's what happened when I ate a sticky bun...

    Hello.

A few months ago I was stuck in the airport and had an hour to wait until my next flight. I hadn't eaten in a while and I wasn't just hungry...I was starving!

Because I'd woken up late and almost missed my first flight, I'd forgotten to pack food for the afternoon. I was famished. My energy level was low and I was tired and irritated because my blood sugar had dropped.

And that's when I smelled it...

Usually I don't even think about giving in to these temptations, but this time I couldn't pass it up. The lust was too strong. It had been years since I'd eaten a sticky bun, and the thought of satisfying my hunger with one was too much to resist.

So I bought one and ate it very quickly.

Before I tell you what happened, let me share one very important fact.

    Fact: I was stupid.

After working with thousands of patients for more than 20 years and authoring five books on health and nutrition, you'd think I would have known better.

I know my body very well and understand the connection among food, supplements, exercise, relaxation, and my health.

What I do to my body or put into my body directly impacts my health, energy, concentration, and weight. I know this. I failed to listen to my gut instinct, however, because I was caught unprepared.

I am amazed at how the smartest people don't make the connection among what they eat, how they live, and how they feel.

What most people do on a daily basis, and what I did that moment, was choose to work against my body instead of with it.

    So what happened?

I fell apart. Within a half hour, my energy level plummeted. I felt so sleepy, I couldn't finish my work on the plane. I had to take a nap.

As a result, I woke up feeling very unrested, anxious, and jittery, which was bad, because I had to give a speech in front of 300 doctors that evening.

I tell that story because I am sure you can relate.

It's crucial that we learn how to understand our body and work with it instead of against it.

That means taking away the bad stuff that creates toxicity and inflammation and adding the good stuff (foods and nutrients) that helps you detoxify and reduce inflammation.

When I watch people actually take the time to do this, it's always amazing to me how many of them are surprised to realize how good they can feel.

    To your good health!

    Mark Hyman, MD
