    Hi Jamarr.

During the 1980's I was in the service and had a very close roommate/friend for most of my enlistment who had a lazy eye. Towards the end of our enlistment he was considering having surgery to fix the problem, but was concerned because the technology of that era may cause him to lose the eye. Our terms ended and we went to different areas of the U.S. and did not stay in touch, so I don't know what choice he made, but I know about lazy eyes.

In spite of what contemporary authors write and others talk about and describe on various forums, Reiki is not Alternative Medicine. Reiki is Complimentary Medicine. Alternative Medicine is a complete replacement for conventional treatment. So that means if Reiki is Alternative Medicine, Reiki completely replaces the need for conventional treatment. For example, if a pregnant woman is giving birth to a child that is going to emerge feet first, then Reiki as Alternative Medicine is used to (magically) rotate the child around so that it emerges in good health. If, for example, a person has been in a car accident and sustained several serious, life threatening injuries, Reiki as Alternative Medicine is applied to completely heal the person. Reiki is NOT Alternative Medicine.

Reiki is Complimentary Medicine because it is used in conjunction with conventional medicine. Conventional medical techniques will ensure a safe birth to the child who is not properly positioned within the womb, and Reiki will help the mother during the healing process. Conventional medicine will do its best for someone who has been in a car accident and sustained several life threatening injuries, and Reiki will help that person through their healing process.

Reiki is Complimentary Medicine because it compliments existing science, it does not replace it. At least not yet. Computer are becoming more intelligent and user friendly every day, and not too many generations from now, computers will be largely controlled by thought alone. When that day comes, it's very likely that nanites will exist to do many surgical tasks, or computers will exist to perform surgical tasks, and both (or whatever form of technology that has emerged) will be controlled directly from the mind of the surgeon... but those days are not here yet. With respect to your lazy eyes, surgery may be the only cure, and if so, Reiki can help ease the process.

If you want to learn Reiki, then I feel it's very important to seek a teacher in your local area and learn it in-person either one-on-one, or in a classroom situation. There are websites and forums that offer free distance attunements and training, but The Reiki Learning Lounge does not offer distance attunements or formal Reiki training. The Reiki Learning Lounge is for people who have heard about Reiki and want to find out enough to determine if going through a class will be worth their while, and for people who are currently being trained by any Reiki teacher. If we were the Reiki Learning Classroom, then maybe that would be different, but we are a Lounge, so we just kick back and talk about Reiki things.

If you are serious about learning Reiki and participating in the community here, then I would like to encourage you to post a recent image of yourself as your profile avatar. There are quite a few here like you who are sensitive to spiritual energies, and having a recent photograph helps a person tune in and send Reiki (I believe "send" Reiki is the conventional term to describe the process nowadays).

Next Sunday, I will be facilitating a group distance Reiki share here at the Reiki Learning Lounge. More details on that will follow later in the week.
