    Hi Reikijim.

    That's a beautiful photo.

I think we may have some administrative settings that need to be adjusted.

The actual size of your pic is 1024x685.

The Host An Image tool specifies a maximum width of 800.

Your pic was cut off by the system to a width of approximately 768.

Wayne, I think we need to look into this....

great picture even if its only half a picture.
It feels like I'm standing right on the other
side looking across at the mountains.

Looking forward to seeing it when the size is adjusted Pyramid Mountain 850837

Hmmm. I explored the Admin section a bit and file size may become a problem.

I will initially suggest to all that gallery submissions be resized to a pixel width not greater than 750 (based on the cut-off point of your image), and optimized to a small file size (that does not take away the resolution on screen).

I'll talk to Wayne about creating a sticky in this area to better explain file dimensions and size.

Yeah i'm looking into it now. One of the reasons why there may not be some kinda function on her to resize pics, is that the size/amount of pics the forum can take, depends on how much space is purchased. I've purchased some before, and we're still within that limit. Buck's right though, after a time, more space will need to be bought. Three things the forum hosts get paid for. Domain name, taking the adds off the site per month, and gallery space. Not really expensive, in itself.

anyhow, the drop down menu in 'host an image' does give four options. Perhaps Jim, you might play with those, and we'll look at what's best. Or, i'll place a test topic, and staff can look at it?

Reikijim, do I understand that you took those photographs??? Then they are even more beautiful! Please, please, Please watermark them in some way as your work because they will inevitably be taken by others and shared throughout the web... and then end up for sale in someone's Reiki book (with content written by James) on e-Bay.

That is beautiful work. You definitely have an eye for the camera.

Buck what do you mean by watermarking?

I use family photos to watermark envelopes.
Is there another use for watermarking @ study

It's a method of embedding copyright information into a picture that is not obvious to the human eye, but is obvious through certain programs.

The term watermarking originates from your description--a subtle, faded image behind something else on printed paper. In the digital world, the term is used as a means to identify an artists work.

    Hi Buck,

Yes I took these and many more... Thank you for the kind words and appreciation...

I look at it this way... If the proliferation of my work leads to more people appreciating the natural environment, so be it, as I have done the wild places and creatures a good turn. Also, I think these images bring joy to people.
So I agree that the advice you have shared is sound, but with these images in particular, I`m going to let it ride...

Many have told me to protect them, I suppose I had better consider this for the future...thank you for the advice...

By the way, a very funny comment regarding a Reiki book with James`s words and my pictures...quite possible too I suppose...lol
