    Hello,

I was just reading some stuff from another site regarding Hatsurie-Ho. The article claims (Hiroshi Doi) that the version of Hatsurie ho that is widely accepted, to be of Taoist, Qi Gong origin. The information also goes on to differentiate between what Mikao Usui may have taught,(Shuyo ho)and Hatsurie Ho.

Considering that I work full time, and meditate and do reiki in the evening, it would seem that I do not have the opportunity to devote myself to researching Reiki history. Therefore I was wondering if someone could elaborate, or add to this information....Colin, James, Wayne....What can you tell me/us in regard to Hatsurie ho being of Taoist Qi Gong origin?

I havn't really looked much before Usui Reiki, to be honest bro, as there's still much i've to clean from Usui sensei himself. Buck might be worth talking to also, as he does a different version of Hatsurei ho, that i think he's got from qigong. Also, Bruce knows qigong pretty well.

I've just woke up, hehe, there's a guy said to be a student of Usui sensei, who even wrote a book, a guy called Kaiji Tomita he wrote a book in which he mentioend hatsurei ho. what i find really interesting, is that his book is called 'Reiki to Jinjitsu- Tomita Ryu Teate Ryoho'. The last bit being Tomita Ryu hands healing. This shows me he has changed the name of what he does, usually associated with changing the aspects he himself was taught.

What's also interesting is that one of Hayashi sensei major students, an actual 'live-in' student (which is a major big deal then in Japan, a great honour), doesn't seem to have mentioned such a great technique like Hatsurei ho., as a collective application. No doubt, hatsurei ho is a great technique, but promoted as one of the 3 foundation pillars of Usui Reiki, it's curious it wasn't taught by Hayashi sensei to Takata sensei. Particularly since Hayashi sensei identified the style as Usui sensei's, per the custom of teaching as he was taught.

Just suggesting that while Hatsurei may be partially traced to qigong, it doesn't mean it can be traced to Usui sensei, Smile.

    Take care

Will The Real Hatsurie Ho Please Stand Up? Empty is Hatsurei Ho really reiki related ?

    Post by Lambs-Wool Thu Jul 01, 2010 2:35 am

following some insteresting input by James about the multipilicity of meanings of the word "rei" (ref : An interesting site about early Japanese martial arts and culture (referred websites section) ), i have some thoughts about hatsurei ho....

it is always claimed, taught and discussed that hatsurei ho is a superb practice to increase/enhance reiki flow and is also credited to have produced the effects of development of spirit... some would say that hatsurei strengthens the 'glow of spirit'.....

my experience with hatsurei ho is very very short lived, so i can only speculate here...as we know that Usui Sensei was a spiritual teacher and practitioner of a the highest caliber of times, it is well nigh impossible that he must not have earned a mastery of something so prevalent in Japan as a benchmark of spiritual cultiviation... the chi gong or qi-gong....assuming that he had mastery in qi-gong, can we assume he inbuilt aspects of qi-gong into reiki system too ?

these thoughts stem from my maiden feelings that whenever i practice hatsurei ho, i feel as if im doing an 'energy-based' exercise, as compared to reiki treatments, where i can feel the 'silence' within reiki phenomenon, the silence of stillness, the silence of being ONE with universe.....

precisely speaking, hatsurei ho enhances what ? reiki, rei or ki ???

    regards

    salman

i have merged my thread "is hatsurei ho really reiki related" with topic "will real hatsurei ho stand up" by Reikijim. this will help furthering the discussion through two dimensions now study

the word mesns to generate spirit. there's loads of technqieus used around the time of Usui sensei. just cause there's a tenuous connection to something called hatsurei ho, doesn't mean:

    1. it was even close to what is pracrticed now
    2. it was even a part of Usui Reiki.
