    Hi All,

    Sometimes I wonder,
If I wanted to become a better healer, How would I do that?

-By Lots & Lots of Hands on experience?
    -By getting Multiple attunements?
-By being the most compassionate being?
    -By developing psychic skills?
    -By spiritual practices?
-By learning advanced Energy work Skills?

    scratch

PS:- I know that we are only the 'vessel', is there such thing as being a better vessel? scratch

The answer is both yes and no. I think if you start on any of those endeavors, it will automatically lead you to learn the others simultaneously. Now of course its quite difficult to say, "I'm going to study gaining psychic skills today."

I can honestly say that my "psychic" skills are not that adept. My intuition is pretty good, however.

I wouldn't say I was overly spiritual. But the more attunements I sought out, and the more advanced energy techniques I learned, the more spiritual this adventure became for me. It was kinda a bonus that I wasn't expecting, but one that I enjoy.

    My suggestion is this:

Don't over think things. Follow your intuition. Spirit will guide.
Bridget I think was spot on. But to add to that. Learn to surrender your control. As soon as you truly surrender your control to the universe, you suddenly gain control over so much more and you realize that the control you sought isn't important anymore.

    Andy

P.S. I'm still learning to live in dominion with, rather than over.

Takata sensei always said the best way was to expereince Reiki. either on yourself or others.

If one goes down the road of seeking more attunements, or re-attunements, that is showing an inward belief that they are somehow 'inadequate'. A person doesn't need to be attuned to more ways, or re-attuned to the same ways to be any 'better'. A person needs to work hard, on themselves & others. that 'work hard' sounds familiar, hehe.

If a person does these things, they are 'chasing' something which is outside them, and it's something imagined. that 'one more' attunement, will sort me out. a couple 're-attunements' will 'top me right back up', etc.

What we need , is already within us.

To answer your question, Compassion & hands on expereince. Smile .

Wayne, I would avoid "Working Hard" IMO easy does it.
We want to give the body time to make the innate
adjustments to balance & harmonize. If we stress over
working hard we may get the opposite effect of healing.
I try to watch my self talk. I listen closely when folks
say... this cough is never going to leave.....what message
has that person given to the brain. Positive thinking is
also part of healing. If we as Reiki practitioners can begin
to watch our own self talk/thoughts we can better assist our
    clients/recipients to also heal.

    Hi Bridget,
My fault, i should have explained better, hehe.

'Work Hard' (Gyo wo hage me), is one of our Reiki principles. The reason is used it was that i feel a person should be prepared to work hard on themselves if they want to be a 'better' healer. As opposed to maybe attempting a 'quick-fix' of more attunements or re-attunements.

It's maybe why Usui sensei taught over 2000 level 1, but only 20 Level 3.

    take care
    Wayne

Edit: Even though i know this no,w and did know it before, at Christmas i still did go ahead and train in another energy modality for the very reason i wanted to do 'better' self-healing. So i can see points here, for sure. Smile .

Wayne, I guess that's why we see so many different versions of the precepts. Wording means different things to different folks. I've been learning from my own personal experiene that patterns of negative or positive self-talk/thoughts often start in childhood. What was acceptable wording in one time period may need claification, changing in present/future time periods. sunny

    Hi Andy!

I think if you start on any of those endeavors, it will automatically lead you to learn the others simultaneously.

cheers Thank You for confirming that!!!!!!!!! cheers

I wouldn't say I was overly spiritual. But the more attunements I sought out, and the more advanced energy techniques I learned, the more spiritual this adventure became for me. It was kinda a bonus that I wasn't expecting, but one that I enjoy.

    I think that's absolutely wonderful...
I find these journeys so beautiful and interesting... I live for these, these give me the ultimate joy! santa

I have actually lost my peace. Why can't I go back to painting nails and reading tabloid magazines...I have lost interest in a lot of things, It is so freaking scary!!
I still feel I haven't even learned the basics yet.
    I will take your advice.

You are the 2nd person to tell me 'Don't over think things'!!(...... may be even the 3rd ) Very Happy

What Bridget mentioned should be first on the list ofcourse...I wrote about it recently in another forum and completely forget to add that... tongue
    (hint hint, I wonder why?)

How can a person start healing him/herself??? ( Like a Star @ heaven NEW topic alert!!)

Takata sensei always said the best way was to expereince Reiki. either on yourself or others.

    Hey, Wayne!!

Meaning - the best way to becoming a better healer is to experience Reiki?

Why , b'cos it is also self-healing us automatically? or the spiritual connection experienced at that time is somehow making us a better person??

If one goes down the road of seeking more attunements, or re-attunements, that is showing an inward belief that they are somehow 'inadequate'. A person doesn't need to be attuned to more ways, or re-attuned to the same ways to be any 'better'.

I wonder a lot about that but for now, I think multiple attunements are OK.
I guess it also depends on WHY a person wants to take multiple attunements..
I think attunements are mysterious, beautiful, boxed up spiritual gifts, you never know until you get them..It can be a magical moment.. drunken

I have experienced some really beautiful attunements! ....but I am not going to go 'collecting' attunements ,I definitely intend to seek them out when I am ready!

But I do see your point, though!

A person needs to work hard, on themselves & others. that 'work hard' sounds familiar, hehe.

Oh, oh, I know this one!
I agree , I agree... I know how hard this is and I know what you mean!

If a person does these things, they are 'chasing' something which is outside them, and it's something imagined. that 'one more' attunement, will sort me out. a couple 're-attunements' will 'top me right back up', etc.

    I definitely see your point,
(To me, attunements are Sacred and Personal. did I mention Beautiful & Magical?? )Very Happy

I would think of that as a learning process they are going thru...Until I actually know from them or ask them, I will have to keep guessing the reasons why they are doing what they are doing! If I asked them I am sure I will get fascinating answers!!

What we need , is already within us.

Yes, Sir, I love those words, I believe it most of the time!! Laughing

To answer your question, Compassion & hands on expereince. Smile .

A sixer, A home run and a Slam dunk! cheers

    That's my answer too!
I have seen that much in the little experience I've had!
I have a solid idea about that...
and only when I am atleast more than half way across will I qualify to become a teacher or even begin giving attunements...

    Take care
    You too, Wayne!

Both. And the more one experiences Reiki, the more they're own awareness of it grows.

    thehungrycaterpillar wrote:

Oh, oh, I know this one!
I agree , I agree... I know how hard this is and I know what you mean!

A person can incorporate Reiki into their daily life as much as they wish, that's their right for sure. Though, specifically about this topic, and one of the examples mentioned (re-attumnements), imo, is not the way to go to be a better healer. And, may not actually make someone better at anything. It's a quick-fix 'solution'. And those ususally aren't that useful within spirituality, imo. And if i could respectfully say to all, is more to do with the ego. I know, i was like this very thing we're talking about, and even still had this issue again as late as Christmas.

This is where the more literal translation of our 4th principle (Gyo wo hage me), 'Work Hard' comes in. Of course, with our lifestyle in the west, we don't take to that pretty well. And to be honest, Usui sensei's students probably didn't eaither. Only 20 made it to level 3. 'Work Hard' doesn't have to mean we go so crazy as to get 'burn-out'. If it's a choice though, of having a re-attunement in the hope we become better healers on the one hand, or treating that extra person or experiencing Reiki yoourself for that extra 30/60 mins per day, i guarantee the longer, deeper well is what will give the most reward. Smile .

Like i mentioned, Smile , all you need to be a good healer is already within you, one just has to do some work to develop that. As in all things worthwhile.

    A couple of things here:

Firstly, someone once gave me a Native American prayer which I use before every healing session: I pray to be a hollow bone through which the healing can flow. I think when my ego is out of the way - when I don't call myself a "healer" or say "I can heal" - then Reiki can work better. The self-healing is the key. If you are a car and Reiki is the fuel, self-healing is the key.

Secondly, "work hard" is not the translation I am familiar with: "do your work honestly" is the one I use. That's not the same as "work hard"! Which translation is more accurate?

Well, in Japanese this particular Principle is "Gyo wo hage me"

This is commonly translated as: "Work Hard"

    - though the word translated as 'work': Gyo, can also imply 'study'

So we could say: "Study Hard", as an alternative.

The general feel behind the statement would seem to be "Be diligent in your endeavours"

    Indeed.

Yet another way of expressing the sentiment is:

"Put your Heart and Soul into all that you do"

it is calling us to (as I say in the "Touch of Reiki" banner in my signature line)

I think that gain experience is one important thing to do so that you can become
    better healer.
but first befor you can heal others you need to heal your self.
help your self then help others and you need to remember that Reiki in all levels
is first off all for you and only after it you can give Reiki to others.

    Light and Love.
