    MBTI (Myers Briggs Type Indicator) testing is used to identify your personality type - it's a very common psychometric test used by business to understand personality characteristics of an organisation. I'm really interested in seeing what personality types are typical amongst this community.

    Testing is simple - please follow the link immediately below and then let us know your type via the poll attached to this thread:

    http://sminds.com/mbti/ Question

    I took the test last week on a course at work, and my type (INFP) was unusual at work - but maybe not so here...

    In business, the received wisdom is that a good spread of types is beneficial in any organisation - along with an understanding among colleagues of each other's types and how that may affect the way they interact.

    For more information on the types please see the attached links:-

    I love it. I came out a ESFT
    could not post it on the poll.
    I believe I was not logged in.
    When I have time I will come
    back and do it later.Before
    you assess you need x amount
    of folks to take the test to
    get an acurate type amongst
    this community.Unless your
    going to rely on active
    members only but then you
    have no way of telling who
    voted, except you can only
    vote once Very Happy

    Thanks Bridget

    These things can be a lot of fun - and useful too in understanding each other.

    If even just the active members here respond to the poll then we can understand something about forum representation of types. I don't think it will show any bias one way or the other though...

    Hi Bridget,

    Nothing strange about that. Everybody flexes to some extent between the types - so sometimes we may answer the questions differently.

    I test on the cusp of F(eeling) and T(hinking) - F for Reiki, T more so for work.

    But we all flex too - I'm an I(ntrovert) but that doesn't stop me from getting the guitar out to play in company...

    Hey Curly - that's great...

    From the following link we learn... I wonder does this resonate with you...

    http://www.personalitypage.com/html/ESFP_car.html

    ESFPs generally have the following traits:

    * Live in the present moment
    * Are stimulated and excited by new experiences
    * Practical and realistic
    * Warmly interested in people
    * Know how to have a good time, and how to make things fun for others
    * Independent and resourceful
    * Spontaneous - seldom plan ahead
    * Hate structure and routine
    * Dislike theory and long written explanations
    * Feel special bond with children and animals
    * Strongly developed aesthetic appreciation for things
    * Great people skills

    ESFPs are good at many things, but will not be happy unless they have a lot of contact with people, and a lot of new experiences. They should choose careers which provide them with the opportunity to use their great people skills and practical perspective, which will also provide them with enough new challenges that they will not become bored.

    The following list of professions is built on our impressions of careers which would be especially suitable for an ESFP. It is meant to be a starting place, rather than an exhaustive list. There are no guarantees that any or all of the careers listed here would be appropriate for you, or that your best career match is among those listed.

    Possible Career Paths for the ESFP:

    * Artists, Performers and Actors
    * Sales Representatives
    * Counselors / Social Work
    * Child Care
    * Fashion Designers
    * Interior Decorators
    * Consultants
    * Photographers

    I came out ENFP, Journalist. I took this test once before probably nearly 20 years ago, and despite my change in life outlook, I scored an ENFP then too.

    nothing wrong with ISTJ just that when
    I get so many different readings I am
    wondering what it is that changes the
    readings. It would be intersting to do

    Hi,

    Apparently Karl Jung and I have something in connon. We are both....

    Idealist Portrait of the Counselor (INFJ)

    Counselors have an exceptionally strong desire to contribute to the welfare of others, and find great personal fulfillment interacting with people, nurturing their personal development, guiding them to realize their human potential. Although they are happy working at jobs (such as writing) that require solitude and close attention, Counselors do quite well with individuals or groups of people, provided that the personal interactions are not superficial, and that they find some quiet, private time every now and then to recharge their batteries. Counselors are both kind and positive in their handling of others; they are great listeners and seem naturally interested in helping people with their personal problems. Not usually visible leaders, Counselors prefer to work intensely with those close to them, especially on a one-to-one basis, quietly exerting their influence behind the scenes.

    Counselors are scarce, little more than one percent of the population, and can be hard to get to know, since they tend not to share their innermost thoughts or their powerful emotional reactions except with their loved ones. They are highly private people, with an unusually rich, complicated inner life. Friends or colleagues who have known them for years may find sides emerging which come as a surprise. Not that Counselors are flighty or scattered; they value their integrity a great deal, but they have mysterious, intricately woven personalities which sometimes puzzle even them.

    I do believe this is me to a "T"...should have taken this test along time ago....Thanks John, for posting this idea.

    Hi Bridget,

    It's interesting that personality theories have been around so long and still get good traction. They are a useful tool to help understand and interact positively with each other I think through giving insight into both strengths and weaknesses.

    Personalities never change people are the same
    down through the generations. Technology changes
    the way we operate in our new life styles lol!

    Yes, in that box were some written parts of that
    Family Therapy course we had to do a family tree
    going as far back as we can. Then we had to look
    for family patterns from our family tree. We were
    given family trees of famous people like,Henry Ford
    etc; that had patterns like sucicide, early child
    deaths, age difference in husband/wives,divorces etc;
    I had some letters from home that gathered family info. king queen

    We had to write a summary of the characters from
    the movie 12 angry men (1957) about an open/shut
    murder case that becomes a mini drama when Henry
    Fonda challenges each of the jurors prejudices &
    preconceptions about the trail, and the accused
    Spanish American guilty of murdering his father.
    The movie takes place in the jury room lots of
    drama in a one room Black/white stage afro study affraid
