In a recent article by the Washington Post, Reiki is highlighted as 'going mainstream' by virtue it is in many hospitals.
Sitting on the fence somewhat, the article makes a little of the apparent lack of scientific and medical evidence that Reiki has any effect. Perhaps the researcher for the article asked mainstream scientists, and not Reiki researchers. Thereby giving only one side of the equation. Why even hard evidence is important when medicine is well known for having noted results even in placebo, I do not know. Perhaps the papers researchers contacted Dr. Jekyll for his opinion. .
The seemingly innocent article reveals itself fully, when organised religion is invoked regarding the 'superstition' of Reiki. Obviously not taking into account the arguable 'superstition' of the effect of prayer.
The article would have been much more balanced had it not placed scientific and religious opinion against the general public. That kind of tact, may backfire a little within society though.
warmest wishes
