Vijay, I may be different to most people on here! But this is what I do.

Thinking about Reiki forms part of my life. It's not at the forefront of my consciousness all the time, more like part of the wallpaper of my mind. But it's always there.

My main self-healing is done at night before I go to bed. Sometimes I do the hand positions: most of the time I visualise the symbols enveloping me. Sometimes I breathe in light from above and below, and bathe in a beautiful purple aura. This is the time when I send distant Reiki too.

The principles come to mind at various stages during the day, usually when I need them!

We all need to be mindful about not getting attached to the idea of spiritual materialism (quoting Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche) as a way of either comparing ourselves to others on the spiritual path or seeking it primarily as means of self-improvement. There is no punctuality in spiritual practice. My pastor may not be pleased that I don't attend church every Sunday, but he is not present when I am present with God.

That said, nearly every moment of my day provides me with opportunities to further my spiritual practice. Taking care of my family, working at my job, listening to my friends, dealing with the nature of my own mind...in all of these things, Reiki is somehow present (the wallpaper that Chris mentions.) The Reiki Precepts are very helpful for this.

Every day I try to facilitate a gratitude practice, to remind myself of the many blessings I receive and to ask the same for others. Sometimes I pray and/or talk to the angels and ask for additional guidance. I don't do a Reiki self-treatment every day, but when I do have some extra time to myself in the morning or evening, I may do a short self-treatment.

If a routine works for you, then continue to do it. Very Happy

It varies with me a lot. I get up (that's if i sleep, i got insomnia via my addiction days), check my emails, check the forum, and depending on my mood will do in any order:

Hatsurei ho (resumed it again for personal spirituality)
    Self-treatment
    Kuji-in
    Gym
    Martial arts (of a sort)
    Study of Gnosticism
    Study of Gregg Braden stuff
    Xbox Yee-haay!

all through this i'm online most times. i'm still technically unemployed, though forming self-defence schools, and teaching personal tuition in it also at present. So have quite a bit of spare time still!

i'm so very lucky, i do all the things that are actually my hobbies/interests, day in day out. i'm really blessed, now i think bout it.

Once a person has comitted to Official
    Reiki Systems,they usually continue to
engage in a more in depth use of their
natural energies that have lay dormant.
They will be more aware of ULE's as they
move through their daily routines. bounce

I'm a third shifter, so my routine may be a bit different to some. It also depends on which day it is in the week/month.
    After work -
    Gassho Kyoku-ho (daily)
    Gokai Sansho (daily)
    Self Treatment before bed (daily)
After I wake for the day -
    Hatsurei-ho (daily)
    Gokai Sansho (daily)
    Enkaku Chiryo-ho/Self Treatment/Individual Technique[heso chiryo-ho, tanden chiryo-ho, nentatsu-ho] (daily)
    Reiki Share once a month.
Martial Arts training five days a week.
I also try to read a little each day. My Great-grandfather use to say "The first day we fail to learn something new, is the first day we start getting stupid"

Chi - Yes he was. Taught me a great deal that he did!

Wayne - I am between dojo at the moment. I was training with the Jinenkan, but had to stop due to some severe knee issues. Prior to that I did a six year stint in the Bujinkan. I trained in budo most of my life starting as a boy with kendo and shotokan karate. I trained in a koryu (old style) from mid high school until I was 27. I am looking for a iaido/battojutsu dojo to join right now. Nicer to the knees and full of the self discipline that I need. I have thought about doing aikido as well but worry about my knees, I did a lot of stupid things when I was younger!

wots Jinekan? Bunjinkan, i was gonna do Genbukan over in Ireland. You ever try your hands at Kuji-in? some say they came from ninja.

Edit: just googled it, ninpo stuff then?

I attended some Genbukan training, good organization. I am 1/4 Japanese and grew up exposed some to Tendai. When I was little I once saw both my Great-grandfather and my Grandmother (his daughter) do Kuji-in. I personally am not religious in any way so I never took to trying it. I have heard the connection to ninja, but the training I took in the Bujinkan never dealt with it.

Only mentioning it, as i've started it officially myself (Kuji-in), being guided by a Master. Folks on another spiritual forum i go to, lots of them are martial artists, and they speak regularly bout the link. Also, that kuji-in can be used for martial arts also.

Does Jinekan teach the philosophy also, meditation, etc? Or is it physicla stuff just? Just curious, as i'm not familiar with it.

13 years ago here, in england, Bunjinkan was the big thing. Only a handful of Genbukan offical teachers, two happened to be in Ireland. They taught all aspects of ninpo. Which was what i was after. Dunno if they over here though.

I only trained in the Jinenkan for 6 months before developing my knee issues. I liked it a lot but it (from my limited understanding) focuses mainly on the physical training. Bujinkan left a lot to be desired for me. Not the way I think budo should be taught. It's good for some, but not my thing. Jinenkan and Genbukan are very attention to the details groups, which is a good thing.

I know that the Genbukan has some more spiritual training involved due to Tanemura Sensei's sokeship of a spiritual tradition called Amatsu Tatara. Some very interesting stuff to the tradition. There are three books available on the genbukan website about it. I believe the books were written by a Irishman. Suppose to be Tanemura's guy outside of Japan. Might be something worth checking out for you, with you interest.
    http://www.genbukan.org/cgi-bin/site.pl?1315&csProduct_productID=172
There are several UK Genbukan dojo, one might be near you. Check on Genbukan.org, it won't paste for some reason.

One of the reasons I was thinking about aikido is the kotodama training they do in the higher levels. I also thought that with the more up-right, not so deep stances it may be easier on the knees.
